Atlantic Yachting Sailing School’s training programme is designed to meet the growing demand for professional crew on luxury yachts and super yachts.

The Commercial Yachtmaster Offshore course provides the training, practical experience and preparation for gaining a commercially endorsed RYA / MCA Yachtmaster (Offshore) certificate. Successful graduates are able to work on a variety of sailing yachts, including charter skipper, flotilla skipper or corporate day sailing.
If you are seeking work in the yachting industry for the first time or if you want to build a career in the yachting industry, certain courses are essential and others are highly desirable in the eyes of potential employers. We offer both the essential and highly desirable qualifications – please refer to the “Syllabus” below for the essential modules and the “Optional beneficial modules” for the highly desirable qualifications.

Who is this course for?
Without a doubt the RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore Certification is the way forward. This is an expensive and time consuming course however the rewards for this qualification are plenty. By completing this course, you are conveying to your future employers that you have investigated/researched the industry, have seen what is needed to find employment and you want to add value as a productive, qualified and professional crew member from day one. Exam fees / Registration fees and documents

• RYA Commercial Endorsement Fee £32.00 – to be paid directly by the student to the RYA via credit card
• For commercial Endorsement you will need the following:
1. Basic Sea Survival Certificate (you will receive this certificate after you completed the STCW 95 course)
2. SAMSA Seafarer’s Medical Examination Certificate (the cost is ZAR 300.00; you can go for the examination while you are doing the course with us – we will arrange it for you)
• RYA VHF Exam fee - £30.00 – to be paid directly by the student to the RYA via credit card
• RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Exam fee £225.00 – to be paid directly by the student to the RYA via credit card

Where to from here?

Once qualified as a RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore you can add on to this by simply doing your RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Ocean Certificate, which is the highest sailing qualification.

Accommodation

Free accommodation is on board your training yacht for the duration of the course (including sheets, pillows, pillow cases, fully equipped galley and cleaning products) except for STCW 95 (we can arrange accommodation on your behalf for your account). The yacht is serviced once a week. You will also have the full use of the Club Mykonos Private Resort Facilities plus Wi-Fi (you can purchase vouchers).

Food

Nutritional light lunches are provided during the 5-day theory modules.

Tea and coffee are available at the office - always welcome for a cuppa!

Breakfast and dinner is not included in the course fee, however, tea, coffee and sugar is supplied on the yachts. We provide a nutritional menu plan (including a shopping list) for breakfast, lunches not included and dinner typically used when on the sea. We encourage students to cook on the yacht as part of the yachting experience & this helps with budgeting.
